Deep Down the Pits
Endless pits burrowing deep down
Chasms of darkness engulf you
Misery your robe and despair your gown
What remains of your life is a colourless hue
Deep down the pits it’s not pretty
Left with nothing but despair
Even for the bold and gritty
There’s no respite to spare
Deep down the pits you face yourself
In agony and regret you ask
Questions overdue in which you delve
In overwhelming doubts indeed you bask
Deep down the pits you perish
Into nothingness and beyond
With no memories to cherish
Life is but an endless yawn
