Pandora's Box

The soul drifts aimlessly in times of chagrin
The tireless search for truth and meaning
Beyond the wonders of the mind it travels
Left on the face all but a plastic grin

The heart bleeds quietly in times of yearning
It yearns to find its natural abode
The journey serves to be a perennial longing
All that is left is a dolorous ode

The eyes seek out visions in times of want
They gaze endlessly through the blackness that envelops them
Yet they cannot see the light
The remaining darkness is a mocking emblem

The ears listen earnestly in times of silence
They search for familiar sounds to comfort and console
Yet they cannot penetrate the deafness that engulfs
The life around seems to be still and on hold

The arms reach out frantically in times of despair
They seek strength and compassion to enfold
Yet they find nothing apparent to swathe
Aimlessly the days just tick and roll

Back to the square one yet again
Not a grain to gain for all the vested pain
Life is a Pandora's box
Lots of questions; all answers in vain
