:: Despair ::

Deep Down the Pits

Endless pits burrowing deep down
Chasms of darkness engulf you
Misery your robe and despair your gown
What remains of your life is a colourless hue

Deep down the pits it’s not pretty
Left with nothing but despair
Even for the bold and gritty
There’s no respite to spare

Deep down the pits you face yourself
In agony and regret you ask
Questions overdue in which you delve
In overwhelming doubts indeed you bask

Deep down the pits you perish
Into nothingness and beyond
With no memories to cherish
Life is but an endless yawn

:: Realization ::

The False Dawn

A breath of fresh air
Or so it seems
A burgeoning glow on the horizon
Viridity of a fresh-water stream

A bright new start you say
Expectations new and crisp
Like a baby out on the first day
Emotions none but a mere wisp

Floating still is the mind and soul
In the ephemeral joy that time beholds
Once the body hits the sand
It is rocky and rough once again

A dream that dissolves into reality
The mind chooses what it wants to see
For when the languor is gone
You know it is but a false dawn
