:: The Force Of Nature ::

The Natural Loss

Saw the first ray of sunlight
Sent a glimmer down the spine
The water was just right
Slithered up in a straight line

Grew tall and grew strong
An interesting beauty crafted and wrought
The only way was up and nothing could go wrong
Or so we thought

Time trickled like the odd drop from a tap
Left unnoticed it stacked up on itself
The years swelled when it seemed like an afternoon nap
It was too late to relish, it was too late to delve

What seemed like a natural loss
It was so hard to take
Build over years of love and care
But when it fell, it did like a flake

If I had the chance I would turn back the clock
To tell the seedlings there were a treasured lot
For when the time came for the leaves to drop
They dropped too soon, too soon we all forgot
